Perhaps the most special exhibition I will ever do: in a ‘rakuba’ in Um Sidir Village
Back to Kordofan: launch event in Um Sidir for the surrounding villages. From near and far, 600 people came to the huge tent that has been set up. In traditional style a camel derby took place, the travelling exhibition was displayed in a grass shade, and lunch was served from the ‘gadah’ a wooden bowl used for meals of the extended family. The film screening in the cool desert night was followed by an almost unreally beautiful shadow theatre made from the book, with light & sound show, performed by Beshaish, a Sudanese theatre group, in the sands where the project once had started.
